My Last Day :((

Sadly Hilary was away and I couldn't say thanks but I’m going to go over and thank her next week. I had a great day with Carol and Gabby. I got to watch a few operations and dentals. I also got to play with two kittens and Carols dogs! I then mopped all the floors and cleaned out kennels. I also put on a wash. I brought a box of biscuits over to say thank you. I’ve had so much fun and it was great experience J

The next week I started cleaning and washing the kennels out. I then met the new kitten who was quite shy and very cute! I got to watch a cats spay. I also got to try cutting a dogs hair, I got to use a clippers. I then helped Carol with the stock and then went to Lidl with Hillary. I then got to watch a lump removed. I got to leave really early.

This week there was another work experience girl, she was from college. There was a dog called Molly in for skin scrapings. She had sore skin and they needed to find out what was causing it. There was a cat in for grooming and by gum he was cranky! I then got started on the cleaning and I did a ‘spring clean’ on them. I scrubbed them till the shined :P I also cleaned all the floors and washed and folded the laundry. I got to watch an operation on a dog called Sasha who was getting a spay and there was a slit complication, she was in heat which lead to more bleeding. 

She was in a lot of pain and there was a lot of blood! In the end she seemed to be doing ok. I got to leave early after I sorted through the dog food order

    When I went back this week there was only 2 kittens this week.

 I washed out the kennels and fed  the kittens and gave them water. I then got to sit in on a consultation. I was the allowed to watch two operations! I then cleaned the operation table and the equipment used. I also out on a wash which included the draped and towels, also the beds that were dirty. I then swept and mopped out all the rooms, operation room, consult room, waiting room, kennels room and the grooming room. I also got to help wash a dog and then I played with the kittens too. Carol and Hillary are so nice. I’m learning so much and having a great time!

Kitten Cuteness!!!!

On the 23rd of October, was my forth day of work experience in VetCare Rathcoole. I was so excited, I got in at around  9 and I started by cleaning all of kennels. There were 3 ADORABLE kittens there. They were brothers, Sam, Franco and Cisco! They were only 8 weeks so they were so small and playful! Then I swept all the floors and mopped them. I then got to watch the vets take hair samples, to see what was the problem with the dog, Molly. I also got to help wash 2 dogs both called Coco. I then got to play with the puppies for a half an hour. There was then a delivery of more stock and I had to write and put the price tags on them and then I had to put 25% off on some bags. That took a while! I then got my lunch break and when I came back I got to clean up the other kennel and then I was allowed to go home. I had such a good day!!

So today was my third day of work experience in VetCare Rathcoole. I was so excited, when I arrived I swept and mopped the waiting room and cleaned out the kennels. I then was given loads of folders and files and i was to sort them out which I didnt mind doing. When they were all sorted out I was allowed to go in and watch a operation on a male dog age 13. It was really interesting and the vet explained what she was doing and why. I then helped out with washing and grooming a few dogs. There was soooooo much hair!! I then swept up the hair and put the towels and blankets in the wash. I then went through all the dog and cat treats to see which were out of date or which we almost out. I had such a great day. I got to do so much, I love working with animals and the vets are so nice! Cant wait till next week!! :D 

Day 2 wooohooo!!

I was so excited and less nervous. This time when I arrived everyone was pretty busy so I started sweeping and mopping the waiting room like Hillary told me last week i also cleaned out Erics' and a few other kennels. I got to meet 2 new vets and learn more things about caring for sick animals. There were really cute puppy's coming in to get the vaccinations. They was a tiny little puppy, he was so adorable. I also went to the post office to post a letter for one of the other branches of the vets in cork. I also went through the stocks of bags and checked what ones were gone off date or almost out of date. All in all I had an a great time because I also got to go into consultations and help wash a massive gorgeous Saint Bernard! She took forEVER to dry!

I had such a good day! And guess whos getting a kitten called Eric tomorrow... meeeeeeeee! <3 <3 <3

What if i kill an animal?!?!

Its ok i didnt kill any animals...heres my day...I got up at around 7.45. I got a lift over to the vet for 10 to 9. I was so excited! Ever since I was small I've wanted to work in a vet! When I arrived i helped the vet put a serum in the gorgeous boxer dogs eye. I then helped clean out kennels and sweep and mop floors, I was doing some filing when the vets invited me to come watch an operation. I said ok and was a bit worried I'd feel sick but i was actually finw! It was a great experience, I got to help wash and groom a few dogs and then i brought cooper the dog on a quick walk as he was in a cage all day! I also met Eric the kitten and he needed a home and guess who gets him...MEEEEE! =) I loved the day it was such a great experience! I cant wait for next week!!
